We are currently building two eco homes in Ballycanew, Co. Wexford.
These passive homes are situated in the beautiful Wexford countryside a couple of minutes from the village of Ballycanew. The village has a wonderful community atmosphere and many local amenities such as a school, shops, lively pubs and restaurants. Gorey, the N11 and public transport routes to Dublin are a short distance away by car or bike as are Wexford's famous beaches. The location makes perfect sense for commuters as they can make an easy commute during the week but enjoy the countryside in the evening and at the weekend.
The houses' elevated sites offer plenty of garden space to plant or to just enjoy the view. There is also the option to sink a well which would give you your own water supply. They are two of three houses at the end of a private avenue. While you are completely self-sufficient with regards energy supply this small grouping offers a small and safe community, perhaps with like-minded individuals.
As you can see from the plan below, it has five bedrooms, four of which are en suite, sitting room, dinning room, and a kitchen/family room with separate utility room. The house would supply its own energy needs through its wind turbine, solar panels and keep the house warm and healthy with its heat recovery system.
